Quotes, booking, and scheduling
How do I get a quote?
Call us. We ask for the address, the number of stories, the feet of gutter if you know it, and what you see. Then we quote by phone before we book. Details are on the contact page.
Do you charge for estimates or inspections?
No. The quote is free, and the inspection comes with every gutter cleaning. We look at hangers, seams, and fascia while we are up there and send you photos of anything we find.
What affects the price of gutter cleaning or a roof wash?
For gutters: the feet of gutter, the number of stories, how packed the runs are, and whether guards are installed. For roofs: the size, the material, the pitch, and how much growth is on it. We explain which factors apply to your house.
Do I need to be home during the service?
No. If we can reach the gutters and the roof, we can work while you are out. You get before and after photos and a note on anything we found.
How should I prepare for the visit?
Move cars and patio furniture away from the walls, make sure gates are open, and keep pets inside. We handle the ladders and cover the plants, so you do not need to do anything with the landscaping.
Can I book more than one service in a visit?
Yes, and most customers do. We work in a set order: gutters first, then the roof, then gutter brightening, then the downspouts. The services page explains why the order matters.
Gutter cleaning
How often should I clean my gutters in Florida?
At least twice a year: late spring, before hurricane season, and late fall. Homes under live oaks, pines, or palms usually need three or four visits. Add a check after any named storm.
What is the best month to clean gutters in Florida?
Late May to early June is the most important visit, because it clears the gutters before hurricane season starts on June 1. Late February to March handles oak catkins and pollen, and October to November clears summer debris.
Why are my gutters full again so soon?
Florida trees drop something almost every month. Palm fiber, oak litter, pine needles, and pollen arrive on different schedules, and overhanging branches keep feeding the trough. A clean gutter under a live oak can look packed again within a season.
Does gutter cleaning prevent roof leaks?
It removes one cause. A packed gutter backs water up under the first row of shingles and soaks the fascia. Cleaning stops that, but it does not repair a leak that has already started. We photograph anything suspicious.
Can clogged gutters damage my foundation?
They can contribute. Overflow soaks the soil next to the slab and washes out mulch, so water sits against the house. Clear gutters and downspouts that drain away from the wall remove that source.
What do you do with the debris?
We bag it and take it with us. Nothing gets dropped in your beds or left on the lawn. The gutter cleaning page lists the debris we pull out of Florida gutters most often.
Downspouts and drains
Why is my downspout not draining?
Something is blocking the pipe, most often wet pine needles or palm fiber at the top elbow. Seed pods can plug the outlet, and sand settles in the bottom bend. We clear it and run water through until the flow is steady.
Should my downspout drain away from the house?
Yes. Water that lands at the wall pools beside the slab, especially on a flat lot. An extension or a pop-up emitter carries it several feet away. We check where each downspout lands and tell you if it dumps at the wall.
How can I tell if my downspout connects to an underground drain?
Look at the base. A pipe that goes into the ground instead of out to a splash block or the lawn is a buried tie-in. A round cap or pop-up emitter somewhere in the yard is the other end.
Do you clean underground downspout drains?
We flush them with water from the downspout and watch where the water comes out. If a line stays blocked, we tell you what we found and point you to a drain specialist. See downspout cleaning for the details.
Gutter guards
Are gutter guards worth it in Florida?
They help with leaves and fronds. Fine pollen, seed pods, and shingle grit still collect on top or underneath, so guards cut the work without ending it. The right guard depends on what falls on your roof, and we clean guards that are already installed.
How often should gutter guards be cleaned?
Once a year at minimum. Twice under oaks or pines, and more often near palms. See gutter guard cleaning for a schedule by yard type.
Will cleaning damage my gutter guards?
It should not. We lift only the sections that come up without bending, brush and rinse the guard, and set it back flat. Guards that are screwed down or tucked under shingles get cleaned from the top.
Gutter brightening
What are tiger stripes on gutters?
They are black vertical streaks on the outside of the gutter. Roof runoff carries dirt, pollen, and asphalt particles, and an oxidized finish holds them. Rain does not wash them off.
Does gutter brightening damage paint?
It should not. We test a hidden spot first, use a cleaner matched to the finish, and rinse gently. Paint that is already flaking can come off with the streaks, and the test spot tells us. See gutter brightening.
Should I brighten the gutters before or after washing the roof?
After. A streaked roof keeps sending runoff down the gutter face, so we wash the roof first and brighten the gutters second. That way the gutters stay clean longer.
Roof pressure washing
Is it safe to pressure wash a roof?
High pressure is not. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association says it is likely to damage asphalt roofing. We use low pressure and a roof-safe cleaner instead.
How often should a Florida roof be washed?
Most roofs do well with a wash every two to three years. Shaded slopes, north-facing sides, and roofs under oaks may need it sooner.
Do you clean tile and metal roofs?
Yes. Each material gets its own cleaner and footing. Tile can crack underfoot, and metal panels are slippery when wet, so we plan the route before we start. See roof pressure washing.
Does roof cleaning void my shingle warranty?
Check your manufacturer's terms, since they vary. Many exclude damage from high-pressure washing, which is the method we avoid. We follow the low-pressure approach recommended for asphalt shingles.
Will the black streaks come back?
Eventually, yes. The algae spreads on the wind, so a clean roof next to a streaked one will not stay clean forever. Algae-resistant shingles and zinc or copper strips along the ridge can slow regrowth.
How soon will I see results after a roof wash?
Most of the streaking looks better right away. Some staining keeps fading over the following weeks as the cleaner finishes working and the roof dries.
Storms and Florida weather
Should I clean my gutters before hurricane season?
Yes. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and a late spring cleaning means water has a clear path when the heavy rain starts. Skipping it is how most storm overflow begins.
Do you clean gutters after a hurricane or tropical storm?
Yes. Storms fill gutters with branches, shredded leaves, and Spanish moss, and they push silt into buried drain lines. Storm cleanups move to the front of our schedule.
Why do my gutters overflow in summer storms?
Florida downpours drop a lot of water fast. A clean gutter handles it. A half-full one cannot, and a blocked downspout turns the whole run into a bucket. The overflow usually starts at the weakest point, such as a corner or an elbow.
